Translation: Grace Hasu Dlabik's stoneware resonates with her matrilineal ancestors across time. Crafted using a traditional Papua New Guinean method, pottery wrapped in vines and palm leaves is baked in a hole underground, where the smoke from the moisture in the leaves leaves a unique pattern on each piece. Each stoneware, bearing its own story and unique form, symbolizes the female body and embodies the flow of life through the matrilineal lineage.
